Today we found the queen. She is much larger than the old queen and seems to be laying well. We only inspected the top brood box because we found the queen there. We were only aiming to find her today and see how well she was laying. Most of the comb on top has freshly laid eggs in it with a few developing larve and some sealed brood. The bees are still very calm everytime we inspect them. I will probably flood the bee yard with this hive's drones so future hives can inherit this trait. They seem to have large stores of pollen so far, though they are a little bit lacking in honey. So in the winter we will be feeding them with a top feeder with 1:1 sugar water. Hopefully the next few weeks will stay warm and dry so that the bees can gather a little more nectar before winter hits.
